We vetted them.
We played the devil's advocate.
We weighed the issues.
We even asked ourselves "tough questions."

And even though we both voted for Obama, we're still feeling a sense of misapprehension about it. For me, I'm a cynical soul and since the Bush years have taught me that a man will sell his soul for power right before the eyes of a nation, that still doesn't mean he's a bad man. It just means he's incredibly stupid.
Obama doesn't strike me as a bad man, and he doesn't strike me as a stupid one either. On the contrary, the reason he got my vote, however hesitantly given, was that I respect the man's conduct. In my head is the 'ideal public servant' and the behavior associated with that is one dictated by principles. I saw McCain's behavior towards the end as being directed by the GOP and not by the integrity of his personal conscience.
What I am now worried about is what the president-elect hasn't said during the elections: is he going to sharpen his views on gay marriage? Will abortion become an easier process, especially for minors? How is the morality of the nation likely to change in the next 4 years?
The comparisons to Kennedy are exaggerated, I think. Kennedy was a immoral human, but a good president. I believe that Obama is a truly moral human, and I hope that translates into a good president...
